Difference in Builds anything to worry about

  • I have had a build on for the last couple of months, then yesterday i updated to the latest SVN build, then i tried the T3CH one.

What i noticed was that now when i pause a video,

early/late 5/1 then if i pause again it will go 10/2,15/3 and on dropped it will say 2 the first time and then that goes up in increments of 2.

On the previous release i had it didn't drop any frames when pausing and the early/late would only go up like 1/2 2/3. Like that.

I can see where the dropped frames are when pausing as a line goes down the screen like it is finalizing the frame. It is hard to explain, but hopefully someone will get my meaning. I cant tell any difference when playing the videos between the two versions but i just wondered if someone could enlighten my as to why this is the case. As it was just something that stuck out to me.

I run xbmc at 720p and run on 100mbps wired

I like the new version i am using though as it has updates to my previous version.

    lastly,

I just tried an ISO dvd that i had, it loaded so quick it was amazing. I am going to turn all of my dvd image files to ISO and you can still resume which is excellent.

Why do the ISO files load so much quicker than the DVD image files, especially when you are selecting a scene on a dvd menu. Its instant.

  • I found out that the dropped frame when pausing was caused by having the sound set on analog, i changed it to digital and now when i pause it doesn't drop frames anymore.

The early count goes up anything like 4-6 times between pausing and playing but the late always moves one at a time 4/1 8/2 14/3

If it is normal for the early/late frames then that is fine. It only happens when i pause and then press play. Other than that it doesn't change.

    Thanks for the reply

  • There are also more early/late frames in the count if i look when something is nearly finished playing. When a file is opened if i get the info i can see straight away that one frame has dropped.

Could it just be that the logging is better on this version or it doesnt play as well as the other one. I would have thought that newer meant better ?

  • mplayerhq.

early/late isnt really anything to worry about (unless you get them in the hundreds/thousands) - its when it starts to drop it gets nasty.

  • After further looking it would seem that the only dropped frames are when pausing and the only early/late frames are from pausing.

Is there anywhere i can get any info on this, can someone point me in the right direction ?
